Introduction

As the organization grows larger, the user’s access and authentication across multiple applications and platforms become challenging, cutting down the ease of use with multiple credentials and login details. PingFederate SSO helps organizations with its Single-Sign-On capabilities so that users and stakeholders can easily access the various software and applications with single credential details.

In this article, we will learn about PingFederate, covering all its details so that you can easily adopt it. But before that let us understand the idea of SSO.

What is SSO?

Generally, when there are multiple applications and software within an organization, users need multiple credentials such as username and password to access them. This makes the accessing of platforms complex. So, SSO (Single-Sign-On) is the method of user authentication by which the users can access all the platforms with just one set of credentials.

Are SSO and Federation SSO the same?

The terms SSO and Federation SSO look the same but actually, they slightly differ from each other. Federation SSO is an advanced version of SSO that facilitates user access across different SaaS Applications and Platforms. Therefore, SSO does not have all the features that Federation SSO offers.

What is PingFederate SSO?

PingFederate is an enterprise federation server and identity bridge for user authentication and standards-based single sign-on (SSO) for employee, partner, and customer identities. It enables outbound and inbound solutions for SSO, federated identity management, customer identity and access management, mobile identity security, API security, and social identity integration.

Advantages of PingFederate

  • It supports security in high-risk transaction

PingFederate provides MFA (Multi-factor Authentication) support in cases where passwords are not sufficient, such as providing access to high-risk transactions and sensitive applications and data.

  • PingFederate has wide Integration support

PingFederate supports identity and access management (IAM) integrations with a wide range of cloud, mobile, Software as a Service (SaaS), APIs, and on-premises applications.
